Cutting edge Scottish designer Christopher Kane is thinking about launching a line of luxury leather shoes and handbags now that he has financial backing under his belt. Kering, formally known as PPR, is a fashion investment company heading by François Henri Pinault (Salma Hayek's sweetie) that is pronounced "caring", as the company's mission is to nurture its brands and shareholders. He told WWD, "I'd love to see a Christopher Kane bag, a staple bag that could carry on for five years, 10 years. We have a rich archive of leathers and fabrics that could easily fall into a bag category."
We sure would love to see one too! Kane has done a previous line of accessories, but nothing quite this major. Since Kering also backs Stella McCartney, Gucci and Alexander McQueen, he's hoping they can help guide him and his sister Tammy, who happens to be Creative Director of the brand, into this luxe world of leather must-haves. How cool is this? French fragrance-makers and candle company Diptyque have been making the runways of New York and London smell delectable. At the Victoria Beckham show in New York City, the entrance to the library and the catwalk was lined with rich, deep green Figuier candles. In London, Christopher Kane chose Diptyque's 34 Boulevard Saint Germain Room Spray to create a spicy, mossy-like ambiance. And over at House of Holland, Henry Holland also thought that using Figuier candles would give the room a classic scent amidst a throwback clothing collection. Salma Hayek made a stylish appearance at the Christopher Kane Fall 2013 fashion show during London Fashion Week yesterday. She wore a purple Christopher Kane dress with a dramatic hat and a Saint Laurent purse. Salma was joined at the show by husband Francois-Henri Pinault, the CEO of PPR, a fashion conglomerate that owns Christopher Kane and other high-end brands like Saint Laurent and Gucci.
Francois-Henri was recently profiled by T Magazine about his career, but glimpses of his private life with Salma shined through. Salma admitted that she was "mean and nasty" with her now-husband when they first met because she was an activist and was "not into fashion at all." However, her attitude has changed since she started dating Francois-Henri, and now Salma is usually decked out in luxury brands. The big question is what she will wear this weekend at the Oscars, where Salma is slated to present an award. It's always exciting when fashion and beauty work together on a new project and tis the case this season between clothing designer Christopher Kane and hair company Catwalk by TIGI. They have joined forces to bring us this seasons must-have Alice band. The knotted faux leather double-strap hair accessory is available from specialty salons as a gift with purchase until supplies last when you buy two Catwalk by TIGI products. Christopher Kane told Vogue,
"I have designed hair accessories prior to this but never took them to market. TIGI suggested it and I thought it would be nice to do… TIGI is all about being creative and I really like that. I also admire that it is a family brand like my own."

This morning, Gianni Versace Spa made an announcement about the repositioning of their "young heart, soul and spirit of Versace brand", Versus. The idea is there will be more of a digital media approach to advertising and many future capsule collaborations with up and coming designers and stylists. Christopher Kane, who was the main collaborator with Versus, will be replaced by new talent. Additionally, the new designs won't be showcased only at fashion week, but on a more regular basis throughout all seasons. In a press release, Donatella Versace said,
"This is a very exciting development for Versus, and I’m thrilled to be engaged in such a major shake-up of the fashion world’s rules. I want to thank Christopher for his contribution to Versus over 6 seasons, during which I have been able to appreciate his extraordinary talent. Working with young talented people, and see them grow and develop as I have seen Christopher do over these years, is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. I wish him all the best for the development of his own line. He will always have my total support."

Designer Christopher Kane is known for incorporating a feminine yet edgy feel to his fashions. His Fall 2012 collection, for instance, featured leopard prints, boxy silhouettes, and grosgrain prints. Models were also adorned with leather at his latest runway show — an element Kane was inspired by when developing this knotted, leather-esque hairband for Catwalk by Tigi.
"I used accents of black leather in my A/W12 collection and so wanted to create a hairband for Tigi that had the same attitude," Kane explained. "A double strand in soft, mock leather adds toughness and strictness and keeps the hair controlled and modern." The limited-edition headband will be available with the purchase of two Catwalk by Tigi products at participating Tigi salons next month.
