Fashion's Night 2013 Out Is Moving from London to Manchester

Vogue's Fashion's Night Out, the biggest kickoff to fashion week in Autumn, has taken place in London since 2009.

Vogue's Fashion's Night Out, the biggest kickoff to fashion week in Autumn, has taken place in London since 2009. However, this year, the festivities will commence on Thursday, October 10th — in Manchester! This new location has high hopes of boosting the economy in the city and it has already been confirmed that Harvey Nichols and Selfridges will participate. The main area of attraction will be in Exchange Square and in the surrounding vicinity. UK Vogue Editor in Chief Alexandra Shulman said,

"Once at the heart of a vibrant textiles industry, Manchester's importance to fashion is unquestionable. Bringing Fashion's Night Out to its streets is the next logical step in the evolution of Fashion's Night Out in the UK. London has witnessed tens of thousands of shoppers joining the fun and we're looking forward to sharing this experience with a new audience.

Diptyque Makes Fashion Week Smell Divine

How cool is this?

How cool is this? French fragrance-makers and candle company Diptyque have been making the runways of New York and London smell delectable. At the Victoria Beckham show in New York City, the entrance to the library and the catwalk was lined with rich, deep green Figuier candles. In London, Christopher Kane chose Diptyque's 34 Boulevard Saint Germain Room Spray to create a spicy, mossy-like ambiance. And over at House of Holland, Henry Holland also thought that using Figuier candles would give the room a classic scent amidst a throwback clothing collection. Lastly Antonio Berardi decided upon the unique, resin and balsamic scent of Opopanax Room Spray for his show. Which of these fragrances is your favourite?

What Do You Think of This Ombrè Rainbow Beehive at PPQ?

It's safe to say at this point that we are walking away from fashion weeks, erm, fashion month, knowing that the next hottest trend is something we've already lived through: The 90s.

It's safe to say at this point that we are walking away from fashion weeks, erm, fashion month, knowing that the next hottest trend is something we've already lived through: The 90s. Over at PPQ earlier in the week, the theme was "nineties power dresser gone a bit crazy". We sure see the crazy part in this rad multi-colour beehive hairstyle that reminds me of the movie Pretty in Pink, but more modern. I guess that is the effect they were going for. Whilst makeup from Stila was a bit more reserved, saving the punch for the lush lashes, I think I'd have a hard time pulling off such a dramatic hairstyle in this day and age. How about you? Cast you vote below and leave a comment to let me know.

House of Holland Makeup London Fashion Week

Located in a car park central London on Saturday night, the House of Holland show was full of more energy than ever before. The theme was "Granny Rave" with a nod to shag carpeting that lined the runway and curtain prints, grass greens and putrid pinks making a big comeback, but with a 1989 setting. Henry describes the show as, "part Disco Sally and Summer of Love ‘89. The look is Nana Rave in a car park. Like I've kidnapped my grandmother, and dressed her in her old curtains."

The soundtrack: Such A Good Feeling by Brothers in Rhythm
Front row: Pixie Geldof, Jaime Winstone, Daisy Lowe, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Nicola Roberts
Post show highlight: Nicola Roberts tweeting “My favourite EVER HOH collection!! Henry IS London fashion week."

Mary Katrantzou Goes Neo Geo For Autumn

Over at Mary Katrantzou's Fall 2013 catwalk show that took place earlier in the week in London, Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals, Eugene Souleiman aimed to create a neo geo style.
The Finished Look

Over at Mary Katrantzou's Fall 2013 catwalk show that took place earlier in the week in London, Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals, Eugene Souleiman aimed to create a neo geo style. "Mary’s designs are technically brilliant but with a feminine edge and I wanted to create a hair look that mirrored this aesthetic." The style was based on two different characteristics: a geometric short fringe, and a textured ponytail. A look that contradicts itself.

Key product: Clip in fringe for a Joan of Arc, edgy style
Backstage ambiance: Snacks that included worcester sauce crisps and Cadbury chocolate
The look: Almost medieval. The short boyish fringe makes the girls almost look like choir boys. But when they turn around you get this feminine high ponytail

Backstage at Matthew Williamson's Fall 2013 fashion show in London, makeup artists Lisa Eldridge used Benefit Cosmetics to create a look inspired by the Northern Lights.

Backstage at Matthew Williamson's Fall 2013 fashion show in London, makeup artists Lisa Eldridge used Benefit Cosmetics to create a look inspired by the Northern Lights. Lisa explained that there was a lot going on in the collection and so she wanted to, "give the idea for the makeup to have it almost as if, from the neck up it was like looking at a sepia photograph ... neutral, desaturated tones and natural definition."

The look: Like an Instagram photo of yourself when you're wearing make-up and you put a special filter on it
Who would wear it: A casual, confident girl or woman
Key feature: Brows. Big, natural bushy brows that were back-combed with brow gel.
