Jennifer Lawrence stepped out in a Narciso Rodriguez ensemble and met up with her Silver Linings Playbook costar Bradley Cooper inside the event. Bradley and Jennifer will likely be spending time together this Fall while promoting their movie prior to its November release, but first, she'll report to Atlanta to start filming Catching Fire. Bradley's reportedly heading to Las Vegas to begin work on The Hangover Part III.

Mad Men's Christina Hendricks looked lovely in a black dress while posing for photos on the red carpet, as did Political Animals star Carla Gugino and Django Unchained's Kerry Washington. Inside the ballroom, old friends Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black shared a laugh while John Travolta posed for photos with peers. This year's gathering gave celebrities the chance to catch up and also served as an opportunity for the HFPA to announce its newly inducted officers.

Angelina Jolie on Bringing the Kids to Cannes, Finding Inner Peace, and Maddox and Pax's Martial Arts!

Angelina Jolie joined her costars Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman to bring Kung Fu Panda 2 to the Cannes Film Festival this morning!

Angelina Jolie joined her costars Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman to bring Kung Fu Panda 2 to the Cannes Film Festival this morning! The movie is screening out of competition, but the timing is perfect since she and the family will be sticking around to premiere Brad Pitt's Tree of Life Monday. Angelina looked stunning in Salvatore Ferragamo's tan dress, brown belt and nude heels, and she was cracking up during the press conference as Dustin and Jack showed off their comedic skills. Dustin harped on his own age, joking that he doesn't even remember making the first Kung Fu Panda, so it felt like the first time playing the part. Angelina also talked a bit about her kids, especially her boys Pax and Maddox's love of martial arts, and the theme of adoption in Kung Fu Panda 2 that are obviously close to home for the Jolie-Pitts. She said of the Kung Fu Panda series, "It's the best!" while Jack and Dustin kept the laughs coming. Here's some highlights from Angelina at the press conference:

  • On her kids and the themes of adoption in Kung Fu Panda 2: "I brought my kids to see the movie and they loved it, they laughed through the whole thing. I wondered whether they would ask me questions about it, but because adoption and birth mothers and orphanage — these are happy words. They're very used to these discussions and they just felt that much more proud that they're a little more like Po. So it was lovely."
  • On violence in KFP2 and showing her kids violent films: "You have to know your children. There are children that have a better understanding and are ready earlier than others. But for a film like this, I don't see this as a film that's too violent. I think this is actually quite the opposite because the strength, even in the final battle, the inner peace and sending back that negative energy is what wins. My boys are in martial arts classes. Boys are boys and they have a certain kind of energy, naturally. It's been wonderful to get them focused on martial arts to teach them about the discipline and the respect and the control of their own bodies. I think to ignore that that's a part of humanity, especially little boys, is wrong. So it's to help guide them — what's a positive thing, what's a good guy, To try not to [use violence] certainly, but if you have to, to defend yourself."
  • On bringing the kids to Cannes: "Yes, we're all in France. Our whole family is in France and we're very happy. They're running around the hotel right now, playing games, and making a giant mess, I'm sure. They're having a great time. They love it here. Cannes can be overwhelming, and it can be that you meet a lot of friendly faces and have a good laugh and you also get a chance to see some great films. It's very nice."
  • On picking KFP2 to appeal more to her kids: "We're all big kids at heart . . . but in many ways I did it for them, and I was excited for them to see it. The trick of a sequel is you have to make it better than the first one, which is hard to do especially when the first one is so successful, and I think we pulled it off."
  • On finding inner peace: "Especially for people that have children. You wake up and if they're healthy, you know that that's the most important thing, so you have first of all that peace. They also come with a lot of chaos, but we're all searching for it. It's part of the human journey. We all have moments of inner peace and we lose it and we look for it again. But really it's in knowing the people you love are safe and healthy. That's the best."
  • On her real-life alter ego to all her tough characters: "Certainly my alter ego is who I am 100 percent, which is a mommy who is changing diapers and coloring all night long. I'm sure I'm very, very soft. I've always been drawn to strong characters and I admire strong women, emotionally and physically, just people I feel are fighting for something . . . have a sense of justice and injustice. I've been very lucky that I came to my career at a time that women are being allowed these roles and have such great opportunities for these types of characters."

Angelina Jolie Gave Jack Black's Wife a Sweet Pregnancy Present After Their Last Cannes Trip

Angelina Jolie and Jack Black are prepping to visit France ahead of their Kung Fu Panda 2 screening during the Cannes Film Festival.

Angelina Jolie and Jack Black are prepping to visit France ahead of their Kung Fu Panda 2 screening during the Cannes Film Festival. The costars will be together again for the cinema event after a stint there in 2008 to show off the first movie in the franchise. Angelina was pregnant with twins Vivienne and Knox then, but the world didn't know she was having two babies. Jack memorably let it slip that she was expecting more than one child, but Angelina apparently didn't hold a grudge.

In a recent interview, Jack reminisced about the sweet gesture Angelina made despite his slipup. Angelina sent his pregnant wife, Tanya Hayden, a maternity dress that she'd complimented earlier. Jack recounted the episode and said to Angelina, "You were preggers, and I spilled the beans. And my wife, Tanya, was like, 'That is the most amazing maternity dress I've ever seen.' You had this gorgeous gown, and she was less preggers, but she had one on the way as well. . . And you're like, 'Oh, thanks.' And then, what do we get in the mail like the next week? That gown. You sent it over. It was one of the sweetest gifts of all time."

We'll see what Angelina chooses to wear this year when she and Jack make their first appearances on the red carpet tomorrow. It seems you are excited to see her selection, as Angelina was ranked the celeb you're most looking forward to seeing during the film festival over her partner, Brad Pitt, and others like Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp.

Angelina Jolie Talks Kung Fu 2, Her Kids' Comedy Reviews, and Not Liking the Sound of Her Voice

Angelina Jolie and Jack Black have already kicked off promotion for Kung Fu Panda 2, which will debut in about a week during the Cannes Film Festival.

Angelina Jolie and Jack Black have already kicked off promotion for Kung Fu Panda 2, which will debut in about a week during the Cannes Film Festival. The animated kids' movie is out later this month on the 26th, and Angelina spoke about the picture's themes, setting a high standard, and how it's hard for her to hear her own voice while recording the part of her character Tigress. Angelina Jolie is in Cambodia for Louis Vuitton currently, and she has her oldest four children with her to celebrate this weekend in case they're still there for Mother's Day. Brad Pitt, meanwhile, is home in LA with their youngest Vivienne and Knox enjoying play time at parks near their home. The six smallest Jolie-Pitts will likely accompany Brad and Angelina on their upcoming trek to France, giving them all a chance to check in on renovations at their home Chateau Miraval. Angelina Jolie said of her kids and new movie:

  • On her kids being her harshest comedy critics: "They know when Mommy's funny and when Mommy's not funny. . . They'll sit in a room and say, 'That's just not funny.'"
  • On raising the bar for Kung Fu Panda sequels: "It's about the children. If you look at your own children, you want to do something you know will be better than the first one. You want to make sure it's what they want — and that you're good enough."
  • On not liking the sound of her own voice: "You know, when you hear your own voice, you can find it quite boring and uninteresting. Suddenly, you get very shy that your voice is not enough, because I'm not musical and I don't know my voice."
  • On liking working with Jack: "I was crazy about him. I had seen him in everything he'd done, but what I really knew him for was music . . . I don't have musical talent, so I always thought it was really cool that he could be an actor to a lot of us but equally a rock star."
  • On how themes in her new movie could have affected her kids: "I wondered how they'd respond to the themes of the film . . . [Brad and I were] sensitive to see if there was going to be a big discussion that night about adoption and orphanages . . . We talk about those issues at my house all the time, very openly. We've had those discussions so often, they're such happy, wonderful discussions."
