Summer is officially here, which means it's time to start figuring out which off-the-neck style you'll be sporting once the weather gets balmy. Luckily, three celebrities were showing off some great options this week. Thandie Newton twisted her natural locks into an elegant asymmetrical chignon in London, whilst Kelly Osbourne kept her hair messy and off her face with an Alice band. Lastly, Stacy Keibler kept things slick with a centre-parted style. All three updos are perfect for Summer, but whose are you most likely to wear?
Thandie Newton sure had a busy Sunday. The morning started off at the Cartier Queen's Cup Final 16 at the Guards Polo Club in Egham where the actress wore an Alice by Temperley Celia Dress and Temperley London Plain Swing Coat that she paired with a gold studded round bag and Charlotte Olympia nude and gold platform Dolly pumps. Later that evening, she attended a party for Jimmy Choo and Esquire in London wearing a dress from the Spring 2013 Erdem collection that she paired with what else, but — hot pink Voyage Jimmy Choo Booties (£650)! Shop and compare these two looks and vote below to let me know which one gets your top mark for Thandie.
All hail the new Chanel Bond Street store that was just refurbished. The three-story, 12,600 square feet space officially opens its doors today, but the other night, fashion's finest in London flocked to the chic boutique for a lay of the land. For starters, the focal point of the store is a giant CC and pearl sculpture, paying homage to the brand's famous accessory. Not only is the architecture stunning, but the crowd was certainly a sight for sore eyes. Look at the duds on Poppy Delevigne, Thandie Newton, Caroline Sieber and Yasmin Le Bon, and vote to let me know whose look you like best.
Yesterday, Thandie Newton posed for the cameras in a beautiful red and white semi-sheer ensemble from Temperley London on a photo call for her movie Rogue in France. Wearing a new Francine Top and Freya Satin Ribbon Skirt from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection that she paired with nude peep-toe heels, a white clutch and classic gold hoop earrings, her style is enviable and easy looking. Shop her look above by clicking on the images and leave a comment to let me know what you think of this combo she donned in Cannes.
Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence were celebrated with a special dinner hosted by Harvey Weinstein and Grey Goose at Little House in London last night. The Silver Linings Playbook costars were joined by Harvey, Thandie Newton, Gemma Arterton, and others to toast their big-screen success. Their award-season fun will continue tomorrow, when both Jennifer and Bradley are up for honors at the BAFTAs. Director David O. Russell is also nominated in the best adapted screenplay category.
Clive Owen mingled with a few fellow British entertainers last night at an Audi event in London. He's home in the UK after a stint in NYC, where he worked on Blood Ties with costars Marion Cotillard and Mila Kunis. Being in the Big Apple also allowed Clive to check out some fun events, like the Belmont horse race and the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. Clive also welcomed his wife, Sarah-Jane Fenton, and their girls, Hannah and Sophie, to Manhattan for a Blue Man Group show. The family of four was photographed backstage with some of the performers in early June. Clive returned to England in time to check out Wimbledon two weeks ago. Yesterday's event, the launch of the digital showroom Audi City, gave Clive a chance to say hello to Thandie Newton, as well as singers Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Bryan Ferry.
Thandie Newton is of the natural look persuasion when it comes to makeup, and now she's revealed she's taken that aesthetic into her own DIY beauty recipes. It's unsurprising that the face of Olay has revealed that she made her first foray into skincare with Oil of Ulay beauty fluid. However, what did surprise me was the British actress' stash of vegetable-based cosmetics. Thandie, who's turning 40 this year, told the Telegraph:
"As I got older I became aware I wanted a natural approach; I wanted to find side routes through beauty. I stuck to the motto 'If I can't eat it or squirt it on my toast, I won't use it'. I now make my own bronzer by mixing a few drops of olive oil with some beetroot juice and a scattering of turmeric. Beetroot also works as a great rouge, and I use argan oil as a hair conditioner. My handbag is like a vegetable stall."
She added: "While I'd love to say I use potato juice as a fragrance, I think I'll stop at neroli essential oil." What do you think of Thandie's beetroot blush?
Something must have been in the air yesterday as I saw not one or two, but three hair-raising updo styles in New York, Los Angeles and London. Firstly, Thandi Newton was spotted in Temperley at the premiere of her latest film Good Deeds with her hair pulled back at the sides, yet curled and piled high on the top of her head. It even seems like extensions have been added into her fine hair to create volume. Next, television personality Jodie March was seen outside of the ITV Studios in London with shockingly bright red hair tied into a spiral bun with red feathery floral accessories weaved in. And finally, the runway at New York Fashion Week was a flutter with the models at Josie Natori wearing two-toned plaited intertwining intricate updos. Out of these three styles, is there one that you think you could actually wear?
Last night, celebrities, models, socialites and sports figures gathered looking glorious at the Queen Elizabeth Westminster Central Hall for the 2012 Laureus Sports Awards. Bar Refaeli, Thandie Newton and Tamara Ecclestone were all in attendance donning long and fitted black dresses. I especially love Thandie's black velvet Roger Vivier clutch. There's no denying that all three ladies looked lovely, but if you had to pick your favourite dress, which of these would you choose?
